Smoke em if Ya Got em

Drifting is a strange sport to me.  There are rules, a podium, trophies, and champions like any other form of motorsport but there is also an ambiguity that determines which champion stands on that podium with the trophy.  The points are given out subjectively based on style and there's no clear concise way to determine that style.  While I don't quite understand the sport as well as grip racing, I have to admit it's a superhuman display of car control that I can't help but be amazed at.  Here are some prime examples.

Amongst the Clouds

The Mt. Washington Auto Road is one of the scariest, most treacherous places to hold a picnic, nevermind a hill climb.  With rain, fog, and wind ever present throughout the weekend, disaster for not just the seventy competitors but the entire event would seem to be an inevitable result.  However, the combination of hardy locals, drivers trained for adverse conditions, and a well organized event crew resulted in an exciting and spirited atmosphere better than any weather that was thrown at the 2011 Climb to the Clouds.

Ukrainian Touge

Most of us know that drifting started on the mountain passes of Japan known a touge.  This video is one man's tribute to those pioneers of the Land of the Rising Sun albeit in his own backyard.  Sit back, relax, watch this amazing testament to car control, and have a great weekend.
