Get A Passport.

We've featured the Ebisu race track before but it's hard not to revisit it again. There's something very alluring about Ebisu. While tracks like Monaco and SPA Francochamps are legendary, glamorous, and synonymous to premier auto racing, Ebisu earned our affection for its blue collar background.

How Traffic Happens

This isn't a new video but is still interesting nonetheless.  The University of Nagoya in Japan performed an experiment to try and determine what causes random traffic jams.  The video doesn't explain much past the observations of the experiment but there are probably two schools of thought in how to interpret this.

One side thinks that people brake too often causing cars to line up behind.  The other group thinks people wouldn't have to brake if they didn't have such lead foots in the first place and close-in on the leading car.  I have a third opinion and it's a bit more objective.  There is a small amount of variation from car to car regarding speedometer readings.  American law states that speedometers may be calibrated from the factory to be optimistic but it is illegal for a speedometer to indicate a slower speed than the actual road speed of the car.  Notice the vehicles in the test are not all the same model.

Ukrainian Touge

Most of us know that drifting started on the mountain passes of Japan known a touge.  This video is one man's tribute to those pioneers of the Land of the Rising Sun albeit in his own backyard.  Sit back, relax, watch this amazing testament to car control, and have a great weekend.

Ebisu keeps it real.

With all the D1-GP, Formula Drift, and Gymkhana videos, the drifting scene has evolved extremely quickly the last couple of years. And while the franchises have allowed the sport to do well for themselves, financially... sometimes it's better to take a step back and see its humbler origins-- just a bunch of young enthusiasts looking to improve themselves, learn more about their cars, and make new friends along the journey.

Relax! Happy Weekend everybody! Thank you, Mr. Remi Schouten, for the fantastic video.

That said, does anybody know of any venues here in NY that has something like that? I'd love to pay a visit!
