eBay is a great place to research classic car prices, look for that next project, or just find something that is completely weird and foreign. While all the above are easily found with a few mouse clicks, it seems the gathering of strange and obtuse are at an all time high this time of year. Click ahead to see what was too weird for Halloween and had to be unloaded two weeks later.
First up is the De Tomaso Longchamps. Admittedly, this car is totally new to me. Call me naive, call me ignorant but I had just assumed (or only cared) that De Tomaso only made the Mangusta and Pantera. My bad. I'm so glad I found this though. Its crisp Italian lines along with that 330 horsepower American heart make me go weak in the knees. Picture yourself wrapping your open-backed driving gloved hands around the Nardi wheel and imagine this car being a sweet summer cruiser or grand tourer. Click the pic below for the eBay auction.
Next up on the block is a Pulse Autocycle. For those unfamiliar, this is an enclosed motorcycle with an outrigger on each side. This particular '86 model has been restomodded with a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja's 500cc liquid cooled parallel twin. In the bike, it produced about 55-60 horsepower and delivered about 50 mpg. These numbers are probably different on the Pulse due to gearing, weight, and aerodynamic differences but I don't think the new owner will be worried much about outright speed. With only 350 examples, this tiny ground plane will get noticed by everyone including the law.
Last but not least is a sweet little roadster. Looking like the love child of a Bug-eyed Sprite and a Lotus Seven, the Maxton Rollerskate is a kit car that supposed to harken back to the glory days of the light, nimble British sports car. When new, the car could be bought for less than $30,000 or cheaper if 50 hours of wrenching sounds fun. After assembled, the Rollerskate weighs in a around 1700 lbs and packs 210 horsepower from a high revving 13b rotary motor from a RX-7. Cheap thrills can be had for just under 15 grand over on eBay.
